I missed my 2nd appointment because of two necessary surgeries. So I had a fully covered scalp. The good news was that I had about 3/4 inch of growth. The bad news was that it took about 7 hours to retighten my hair. Below is the before picture.

The picture below is the after. I haven't had time to look for my measuring tape to see where I stand now. I may wait until my September appointment to measure.

The Locktician said that it looks as if my hair will be locked by the end of the year. That makes me jump with joy. It's in time for when I go to Atlanta for the Sisterlocks training. I had figured out how to pay for the class. I am hoping to be a good enough locktician to make a living from it.

Baby Stage

On March 5, I had walked into a beautiful house to start my journey into Sisterlocks. I researched it and thought about and saved until I made the decided to just leap into it. Why Sisterlocks? Let me tell you.

Many years back, I went natural. I fell off the creamy crack wagon a few times because the new type of relaxers promised to tame my hair. They didn't. My hair would look good for a month or so before I started losing hair. Then I would get my hair braided in mircobraids or cornrows to get my hair back at the length of my shoulder but never seemed to get it to grow any longer than brushing my shoulder. I love mircobraids. I read about Sisterlocks and thought how they were just like my beloved mircrobraids.

The above picture is our enagement picture from 2003. And the picture to the right is me celebrating my 35 birthday with mirco braids that I hated giving up because they were just so beautiful and how I wished my hair could really be. I am hoping in 5-7 years I will have a full head of Sisterlocks at my favorite mircobraid length.
So far, my hair has grown pretty quickly. I noticed that even though alot of Sisterlockers have taken pictures, none have taken measurements of their length which I know is the question of all going this route after viewing Dr. Cornwell's hair. And that question? It is "How long will it take to grow past my shoulders?" Let's find out. My hair was approximately 4 inches after The Chop to make my sisterlock experience more affordable.
This is me during my sisterlock installation. It took in total 19 hours. I have 421 sisterlocks. I didn't take a measurement picture when I first had my hair done but I did for my second month anniversay.
